Celebrities undress to prove they’d rather be naked than wear cruelty. The approach has proven effective. What we love: They give a terrific list of companies that are cruelty free. We aren’t on the list, just because we’ve been too busy to apply.
S.T.A.R.T. handles transport of foster and shelter dogs, cats and other pets from the shelter or foster to their forever homes. S.T.A.R.T. also focuses on the most difficult-to-rehome pets to bring awareness to them. They take donations on PayPal at donations@startrescue.org.
A Place To Bark: “Dedicated To Saving The Lives Of Homeless Pets From High Kill Animal Controls.”
Their website wasn’t up when we checked them out last, but remember – these people are literally saving lives. Also look for them on Facebook.
Soi Dog, in Thailand: “rescues and cares for thousands of dogs every year.”
The dog meat trade is a cruel one, with many animals suffering at the hands of people who steal family pets. Thailand does not tolerate the dog meat trade, but it’s a popular thoroughfare for those going to Taiwan, Laos, and Korea, where dogs are eaten.
It’s commonly believed in some of those countries that the more suffering the animal endures, the more powerful the “benefits” of eating that animal. So this is a particularly compelling organization that you can help with even a small donation, since the US dollar carries a high value in Thailand.
We are adding new nonprofits that you can support as often as possible. Feel free to contact us with your favorites at dalbyday@gmail.com.
